–Fox Outfitters Comfort 100 Mattress–

From TGW-T:

The Fox Outfitters Comfort 100 mattress is an extra long and extra wide mattress that certainly doesn’t skimp in the comfort department. Though it won’t win any points wit
h the lightweight backpacking crowd, it will provide bonus points with anyone who enjoys an extra comfy and insulated, night on the ground.

Packaging:

Initially I was not impressed with the packaging, as the entire bed roll was simply encased in a simple layer of shrink wrap. This led me to believe this is all there was, and no stuff sack was to be found. Once unrolled two little gifts fell to the floor. A simple repair kit, and a size matched stuff sack. Two simple items, but none the less a large added value to this piece of kit, considering many competing pads do not include these features.

Durability:

The Fox Outfitters Comfort 100 mattress is quite the hardy beast. The outside is made of heavy denier nylon, and all the edges are a thick ½” weld. The inflation value appears to have a brass washed lock built in to provide for an anti-leak seal once inflated. Both the valve and the welds held up well to more than 24 hours of inflation. The mattress did not appear to lose any air pressure in the time tested.

Size and Weight:

Being an extra long and extra wide pad you would expect that it would have a little extra weight to it, and it does, The Fox Outfitters Comfort 100 has both extra girth and weight and certainly falls into the “car camping” category, when it come to kit. It is larger and thicker than a Thermarest Trail Lite. The extra size might mean it’s heavy, but it also means it’s extra comfy.
Considering the size we tested to see if you could fit the pad inside of the USGI GoreTex bivy. Though the pad did fit in the bivy, it was a tight fit for sure. Adding in a Wiggys -20 FTRSS, certainly tested the limits of the internal space of the bivy, but it was a manageable fit.

Value:
Competing style inflatable pads are easily in a similar price point, being from $50-$60 US, and dollar for dollar the Fox Outfitters Comfort 100 certainly fits the bill. Small extras such as the generously thick nature of the pad, and the patch kit, really add to the value overall. This pad goes into the normal rotation for the “car camping” kit for this Gear Whore.
